Gorkha Nepal

Hey,
Want to know more about Gorkha???  Here I am. I've been living in Gorkha for about 10 months now. I've been working in Gorkha.
Well, actually Gorkha is one of the 75 districts of Republic of Nepal. Geographically, located in mid Nepal Gorkha shares it's border in the North with the mighty China as the great Himalayas separates the border. Mostly covered in Hilly terrain, Gorkha, is quite a challenging place to live for the locals.

Headquarter of Gorkha district is called Gorkha Bazar and it's 24 kms diversion from Aanbu Khaireni along the Kathmandu-Pokhara  Prithvi Highway. Only the 24 kms road to Gorkha Bazaar is black topped. And you'll have to travel off road if you want to visit some villages nearby. Well , travelling is not easy as well.

Gorkha District claimed the epicenter of the devastating Earthquake few months ago. The Epicenter Barpak village in gorkha district is a 5 hrs off road bus journey from Gorkha bazaar. Barpak was claimed to be the largest village in Nepal ( before the earthquake) and was popular a tourist hub. Well now, the whole village is devastated and rebuilding is going on. The road to Barpak has become very dangerous and vulnerable to mudslides as an aftereffect of earthquake.

I'll update more on this post, for now i'll leave you with these pictures showing  the dangerous condition of road to Barpak, Gorkha Nepal.
